Use Flight Comparison Websites

Utilize websites like Skyscanner, Kayak, or Google Flights to compare prices across different airlines and booking platforms.

This can help you find the best deals. Our favorite is Skyscanner. Select your departure city and the arrival city, you can see the prices in the calendar, spot the best deals based on the color code, and select the ones that fit your budget.

Let the website search for the best prices, connections air airlines, it takes a couple of seconds and then you pick up the flight you prefer!

Useful links

To use a flight comparator efficiently, start by entering your travel dates and destinations as precisely as possible to get the most accurate flight options. Utilize the filter options to narrow down your search according to preferences such as number of stops, airlines, and departure times, helping you find the best fit for your schedule and budget.

  • Skyscanner.com: a comprehensive travel search engine that helps users find the best deals on flights, hotels, and car rentals worldwide. Highly recommended!
  • Kayak.com: a travel search engine that aggregates data from hundreds of travel sites to help users find the best prices on flights, hotels, and rental cars.
  • Google Flights: a powerful, user-friendly tool that allows travelers to compare flight prices across different airlines and book the best options directly.
  • Cheapflights.com: a global flight search and comparison website offering users the ability to find and compare prices for flights from a wide range of airlines and booking sites.

Consider Layovers Over Direct Flights

Direct flights are generally more convenient but might be more expensive. Flights with layovers can be much much cheaper.

Just make sure the layover is not too long and that in case of airport transfer, that the transfer happens in the same airport.

Generally, Angloville recommends participants to arrive one day before the programme starts. However, take into account the duration of your flight and consider arriving more than 24 hours in advance in Poland if you have layovers or connections.

Consider Budget Airlines

Europe has several budget airlines, like Ryanair, EasyJet and Wizz Air, that offer affordable flights to and from Poland.

Many budget airlines offer a no-frills service with a simple pricing structure. This means you pay for the basic seat and have the option to add extras as needed, such as checked luggage, priority boarding, or seat selection.

This à la carte pricing can help travelers control their spending and only pay for what they need.

⛔ Don’t fall into the trap of combination deals on airline websites!

For inexperienced travelers, be cautious: airlines often attempt to entice you into purchasing combination deals, such as priority boarding with extra cabin luggage, bundled with a pre-selected seat. These packages may not be necessary for your journey and can inflate the cost. Typically, you have the option to add just the checked luggage later in the booking process, which can be a more cost-effective choice.

Consider Nearby Airports

Look into flying into or out of different airports. Poland has several international airports, such as Warsaw Chopin Airport, Kraków John Paul II International Airport, and Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport. Sometimes, smaller airports might offer cheaper flights.

For instance, to fly to Warsaw, you can also fly to Warsaw Modlin Airport, located about 35 kilometers north of Warsaw city center. This airport mainly handles low-cost airlines and serves as the secondary airport for the city, making it particularly convenient for budget travelers. It is well-connected to the city center by public transport, shuttle services, and taxis, providing easy access for travelers.

Another option is to consider Katowice Airport (KTW) if you want to fly to Krakow. Situated near Krakow, this international airport offers convenient access to the city center. Travelers can utilize direct bus services for a convenient and cost-effective journey of approximately 1.5 hours from the airport to Krakow city center.

Here is the list of the international airports in Poland:

1. Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW), located in the capital city, Warsaw.

2. Kraków John Paul II International Airport (KRK), located near Kraków, serves as a key gateway to the southern region of the country.

3. Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN), serves the city of Gdańsk and the northern areas of Poland.

4. Katowice International Airport (KTW), a great alternative to Krakow airport, only 1.5 hours away from Krakow city center.

5. Wrocław Copernicus Airport (WRO), serves the city of Wrocław and the surrounding region in southwestern Poland.

6. Poznań-Ławica Henryk Wieniawski Airport (POZ), serves the city of Poznań and central-western Poland.

7. Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport (RZE), serves the city of Rzeszów and southeastern Poland. Can also be an alternative for Krakow.

8. Szczecin-Goleniów “Solidarity” Airport (SZZ), located in the northwest part of Poland.

9. Bydgoszcz Ignacy Jan Paderewski Airport (BZG), serves the north-central Poland. Can also be an alternative for Warsaw and Poznan.

10. Łódź Władysław Reymont Airport (LCJ), serves central Poland and a great alternative to Warsaw airport, only 1 hour away from Warsaw

11. Lublin Airport, serves the eastern region of Poland and can also be an alternative to Warsaw airport.

 Book Your Flights in Advance

This is a fundamental tip that we often disregard, hoping for the best deals to come later. Always book in advance! Airfare tends to be more affordable when booked several weeks or months ahead of your planned departure.

Many experts suggest that the best day to book a flight is on Tuesdays, particularly in the late afternoon or evening. This can lead to finding some of the best deals. The reasoning behind this timing is that airlines often release their weekly sales late on Monday or early on Tuesday, leading to price matching and adjustments across the industry throughout the day on Tuesday.

Travel Light With A Single Luggage

Many airlines impose additional fees for checked baggage. Overweight or excessive baggage may lead to significant fees. By traveling with only carry-on luggage, you can evade these extra charges. Some budget airlines also restrict the size and weight of carry-on luggage, applying fees for oversized items; therefore, packing light guarantees you remain within the limits.

Moreover, traveling light can indirectly save money by decreasing the necessity for taxis or other costlier transportation methods to and from the airport. Without heavy bags to manage, you might be more inclined to opt for public transportation.

💡 Save on Checked-In Luggage!

Every plane ticket comes with an allowance for a small personal item such as a small backpack, which should fit under the seat in front of you. Should you require more luggage space, airlines offer a range of additional baggage options.

For savings on checked luggage, opt for light travel with a 10kg cabin suitcase and a backpack.

❌ Don’t overpack!

For your convenience, several of Angloville’s partner hotels also offer laundry services, enabling you to refresh your wardrobe without overpacking: Ameliowka, Hi-Fi, Hotel Korona, Chojnik, Lipowy Most, and many more.

Explore all the facilities and services offered at our partner venues by visiting our website here.

What’s more? Angloville makes your life easier!

Remember, all liquids in your carry-on must be less than 100ml. Many hotels, including those partnered with Angloville, provide essential hygiene products like soap, shampoos and bath towels, allowing you to pack even lighter.

Additionally, buying items like moisturizers, sunscreens, and deodorant in your destination country can be a cost-effective strategy.

To Sum Up…

Typically, airlines like Wizz Air and Ryanair offer a priority boarding package that includes a 10kg onboard small suitcase plus a backpack, which could be the best budget option for travelers staying 1-3 weeks and looking to save money. If you are willing and able to do laundry 1-2 times your stay, this option becomes even more attractive.

Consider Nearby Airports

Direct flights are always the most expensive, so sometimes it’s cheaper to have a layover or land in a country neighboring Poland. This last option can be incredibly cheaper than you think and offers the opportunity to discover more of Europe. All the following airports are located in countries neighboring Poland and offer regular and convenient bus or train connections:

◾ Lithuania: Vilnius Airport (VNO): For participants aiming to reach northeastern Poland (Gdansk, Warsaw, Poznan), Vilnius can be a good starting point. Bus services to Polish cities take approximately 6h30 and start from 19.00 EUR with Flixbus.
