Our local partner guarantees a paid job placement in a local school. Please note that recruitment and school hiring are subject to seasonal demand. Consequently, the signing of an employment contract and the commencement of teaching duties may take longer than 30 days if the completion of the TEFL/TESOL course, orientation, and/or the participant’s arrival coincides with a school break period.
As a consequence, specific job placement timelines cannot be guaranteed, and clients are advised to budget accordingly.
A TEFL certificate is the essential qualification for accessing English teaching opportunities throughout Peru. New positions become available year-round, with strong demand for qualified English teachers. In many cases, TEFL graduates can begin their teaching careers immediately after completing the course.
Opportunities are available for teaching both adults and teenagers in private language institutes and K–12 schools. Major cities such as Cusco, Arequipa, Trujillo, Chiclayo, and Lima are home to thousands of private English institutes and schools. Teachers who can commit to a minimum of one year may find opportunities in K–12 schools, while those looking for shorter commitments of 3–12 months can find positions in private language schools.
Private institutes recruit throughout the year, while K–12 schools generally follow the Latin American academic calendar and tend to recruit between January and February. Most English teachers work approximately 25–30 hours per week, although teaching hours and curriculum requirements vary between institutions.
Our partner’s language training centre in Cusco has approximately 1,700 students and is the third-largest language institute in the city. TEFL graduates receive priority consideration for English teaching positions, with approximately 4–5 new teachers hired each month.
Teachers typically work a split schedule, with 2–3 hours in the morning and 3–4 hours in the evening. This schedule provides plenty of free time during the day to explore the historic city of Cusco, travel, or take care of personal errands.
To support teachers in the classroom, our partner provides a complete ESL curriculum, including syllabi, teaching materials, quizzes, and exams. This comprehensive support helps teachers save considerable time and preparation compared with institutes where teachers are expected to develop their own materials and curriculum.
If a teacher applying to a position offered by our local partner fails three interviews or declines a high-quality placement opportunity, Angloville and its local partner shall be deemed to have fully discharged their obligation with respect to the guaranteed placement.
When can I expect to find a teaching position?
For degree holders, the typical timeframe for finding a teaching position is 0–30 days across our destinations. This is an expected placement timeframe, rather than a guaranteed job start date.
To remain eligible for the placement guarantee, you must accept and begin a position offered to you within this 30-day period. If you choose not to accept or start the offered position, another placement cannot be guaranteed within a specific timeframe.
Lifetime job-placement support continues beyond the 30-day period. Our partner in the host country will continue helping you find a suitable position, although the 0–30-day placement guarantee will no longer apply.
For further information, you shall refer to and be bound by the Terms and Conditions issued by our local partner.
