Roehampton

Roehampton University was founded in 1841 and is located in South West London. Directly adjacent to the university building is the campus where you will live for the entire duration of the programme! The entire complex is gated and located within Richmond Park. In terms of location it is in the immediate vicinity of green areas. The campus is rated as the best in the city and is still undergoing further expansion. The university is equipped with laboratories and lecture halls, a dance studio, a theatre, and film rooms.

The University of Roehampton campus offers single en-suite accommodation with a shared kitchen. The well-equipped and modern facility features:

This reference refers to the architectural designs of university buildings, which were created in the 1960s and are dominated by large glass slabs embedded in a concrete or steel structure. Interestingly, the university has about 15,000 students from 140 countries.

All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are served in the Campus restaurant, except on day trips, where all participants will be provided with a takeaway meal or packed-lunch.

Local guide tips

Angloville advises International Participants to arrive 1 or 2 days in the UK before the programme starts. To arrive at the meeting city, we recommend: www.skyscanner.com to look for some good flight deals. Budget airlines within Europe (Wizz air and Ryanair) do have some great deals for the upcoming months, with fares starting from £30!

You can book your return flight for the last day of the programme, but make sure you will be flying from the departure city, not earlier than 23:00. Generally, our participants prefer to book their return flight the day after the programme to enjoy a good night’s sleep before flying.

We will include all the important information in an info-pack (2-3 weeks before the programme starts).

We recommend you to arrive a day before the programme starts, which means you will have to book the accommodation yourself. The city-centre of the departure is always a good option. Angloville only provides the accommodation for the duration of the programme. If you decide to complete a three-week package with Angloville, booking the accommodation between the programmes will also be your responsibility.

We suggest Couchsurfing (for a free accommodation), HostelWorld and Booking.com (for a bed in a dorm or a cheap hotel deal), or AirBnB (for a private room or a flat to share).

Packing for a trip to the UK in the summer can be a bit tricky, as the weather can be quite unpredictable. However, generally speaking, you should pack for both warm and cool weather. T-shirts, tank tops, and blouses are great for warmer days, but bring a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings. The UK is known for its frequent rain, so it’s always a good idea to bring a waterproof jacket or umbrella. There’s a lot to explore during our programme, so bring comfortable shoes that you can walk in all day.

Don’t forget to pack all the essentials like your passport, travel insurance, and any other necessary travel documents. Also, it’s a good idea to have some cash and credit cards for shopping, snacks, and other extra activities. If you’re coming from a country with a different type of electrical outlet, you’ll need to bring an adapter plug to charge your devices.
