What Is Your Role?

Your role in the programme is simple – you’ll be participating in conversations and activities conducted entirely in English with young participants. No teaching experience is required! Instead of formal classroom teaching and textbooks, we foster a laid-back, real-life environment for practicing English. It’s important to note that Angloville is not a volunteering opportunity; but a cultural and language exchange between local and international participants. Throughout your time with us, we’ve scheduled and structured your day to strike a balance between educational and fun activities.  Our ultimate goal is to bring travelers from all corners of the globe, like yourself, together. Each week, you’ll have the opportunity to meet approximately 60 new people. Just like the thousands of participants before you, you can expect to leave with new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

What Will Your Day Consist Of?

Day One

🗓️Angloville Junior programmes last 7 days, from Sunday to Saturday.

  • Start: Sunday (between 6 AM and 12 PM)
  • End: Saturday (between 4 AM and 8 PM)
  • Free walking tour: Saturday – one day before the programme (at 14:00 during winter time,  17:00 during summer time)

🚍 Meeting point

At the start of the programme (Sunday), the Angloville bus will transport both International and Local Participants from the departure city to the Angloville venue. The specific meeting point, conveniently located and easily accessible, will be communicated to you a couple of weeks before the departure. This is where you will meet our Angloville Coordinators and join the International Participants group. It’s important to note that the venue can be located 1-4 hours away from the departure city, and the meeting time may be scheduled before 10:00 AM. Therefore, we highly recommend arriving in town the day before to ensure timely attendance.

🏨 Lunch & check-in

Upon arrival at the venue, you will enjoy your first lunch and complete the check-in process for your assigned shared room. Subsequently, there will be a preparatory talk for the International Participants conducted by the Coordinator’s staff. The lead coordinator, responsible for program and safety matters, will introduce you to Angloville and Hotel house rules, explain Angloville’s code of conduct, provide the weekly timetable, outline the main activities, and offer valuable tips to enhance your program experience.

🤩 First activities

Following a brief break, the program will commence! All participants will be invited to participate in ice-breaker games, creating an enjoyable and interactive environment for everyone to meet and get acquainted.

Let the fun begin!

Typical Day

🔰 Conversation sessions

Each day of the programme will consist of multiple 50 minute sessions designed to provide a dynamic and stimulating experience. These sessions will include a variety of activities such as 2:1 conversation sessions, group activities, debates, educational workshops, handcraft activities, games, and more. This alternating schedule ensures an enjoyable and diverse programme, preventing monotony and keeping all participants engaged.

? Presentation sessions

In addition to the sessions, you will have the opportunity to mentor and assist two local participants with their personal projects (powerpoint presentation). Together, you will work on a topic of their choice, such as music, hobbies, or holidays, and they will present their project publicly at the end of the programme. These sessions offer a chance to develop teaching, management, and supervision skills, as well as showcase your creativity by designing an engaging presentation.

🔰 Meals

Meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, are considered educational activities as well. Participants, both local and international, will be seated together at tables, ensuring a balanced mix and creating valuable opportunities for getting to know one another. Meals are not only relaxed moments but also serve as ice-breakers and a chance to deepen connections.

🔰 Free time

Did you know that you’ll have 1.5 hours of free time after lunch every day? Many participants take this opportunity to rest and relax in their rooms, while others engage in outdoor exercises like jogging, playing football, or going for a walk. Some may also enjoy the venue’s facilities such as the pool, game rooms, or spa.

🔰 Entertainment hour

🔰 Free city tour

Every Saturday, we arrange free city tours in Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan, and Wroclaw. These guided 2-hour walking tours offer a wonderful chance to explore the city, learn about its history and architecture, and connect with your fellow participants. Our guides are local experts who provide cultural and personal insights. The tours usually conclude with a delightful cup of coffee, laughter, and enjoyable conversations in a cozy café setting.

🔰 Certificate ceremony & farewell party

As the programme comes to an end, we will have a memorable conclusion to this fantastic week. A special ceremony will be organized for all participants, where everyone will be honored with their well-deserved Angloville certificate of participation.

This is also a good time to celebrate and organise a farewell party!

Description

📍 Free city tours every Saturday

We invite you to join our free walking tour in your departure city, which includes places like Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Poznan, Gdansk, and many more. These tours are scheduled one day before the programme and take place every Saturday. During the winter, the tours start at 14:00, while in the summertime, they begin at 17:00.

Participating in these guided walking tours will allow you to explore the city’s beautiful local sights, learn about its history, and have the opportunity to enjoy a coffee or lunch (not included) with fellow international participants afterward.

Please note that for the walking tours to take place, we require a minimum of five participants. The specific meeting points and times will be confirmed a few days before the programme commences.

🚍 Transport from/to the departure city

Meeting point in the departure city

Our summer programmes take place all across Poland, the main departure cities are Warsaw, Poznan, Wroclaw or Krakow, and our meeting time on the first day of the programme, which is Sunday, will be early in the morning, likely before 10:00 AM. To facilitate a smooth start, our Angloville bus will pick the group of International Participants up from a conveniently accessible meeting point, which will be confirmed two weeks before the departure date.

To ensure you are well-rested and punctual for the meeting, Angloville strongly advises arriving in the departure city at least one day prior to the scheduled departure.

Return to the departure city

On the last day of the programme, on Saturday, the Angloville group will travel back to the departure city via bus after having lunch. The specific arrival time can vary due to factors such as the distance between the venue and the city, weather conditions, traffic, and group dynamics. Generally, the bus tends to arrive at the departure city before 18:00.

If you need to travel to a different city for another Angloville programme, we advise against booking your intercity ticket before the aforementioned arrival time.

🏨 Accommodation at the venue

Accommodation & rooming

Our Summer programs are held in a variety of Polish locations, ranging from traditional cottages and mansions to mountain chalets or modern and stylish venues. All of these venues are situated in picturesque countryside settings, often perched atop mountains or nestled within the serene beauty of the forest.

Available amenities are described under Angloville’s venues.

During these programmes, it is possible to accommodate up to four international participants of the same gender in one room. Each room is equipped with an ensuite private bathroom for the convenience of the occupants. The Coordination Team on the program handles the rooming arrangements, making an effort to maintain a balance among various factors (gender, age, affinity). However, accommodating individual preferences can be challenging and denied.

Check-in & check-out

Angloville follows standard practices in the tourism industry by providing the check-in and check-out dates when stating the programme dates and participants’ stay. This format effectively communicates the beginning and end dates of the guests’ hotel accommodation. This commonly used format ensures clarity regarding the number of nights covered by Angloville at the hotel. For instance:

  •  21 – 27 June (Wityng, dep. from Wroclaw) – Junior edition
  • Check-in: 21.06.2023
  • Check-out: 27.06.2023
  • 6 nights, 7 days

Wifi

Complimentary Wi-Fi service is available at all our venues. However, please note that the Wi-Fi bandwidth may be limited and intended primarily for communication purposes such as emails, SMS, and basic website browsing. If you require a reliable and high-speed internet connection, we suggest reaching out to your phone provider to inquire about data roaming options or consider purchasing a local SIM card with an appropriate internet plan. This will ensure a more dependable and robust internet experience during your stay.

🍽️ Meals at the venue

Dietary options available

Angloville provides three dietary options for our programmes oin Poland:

  • Unrestricted
  • Vegetarian
  • Vegan (*)

The meal arrangements include a buffet breakfast, two or three set courses for lunch, and one or two set courses for dinner. The culinary offerings usually showcase the local cuisine of the country or region, which might differ from what you are used to at home. For example, in Poland, people often enjoy a more substantial amount of meat and potatoes in their meals.

It’s important to note that our current setup involves serving a group menu rather than offering à la carte options. Therefore, the dietary option chosen will be applicable for all meals throughout the week, and it will not be possible to make changes as all dishes are planned in advance.

Allergies

We take food allergies very seriously and will strictly adhere to any allergy requirements provided.

Other dietaries

Accommodating specific dietary restrictions such as halal, kosher, gluten-free, or lactose-free can be challenging due to the local culture and gastronomy. We recognize the importance of these dietary needs, and we apologize for any difficulties encountered in providing suitable options.

(*) Please check available dietary options are described under Angloville’s venues.

Whatever your age (speaking as someone in the Autumn years) Angloville is an adventure,a fun, stimulating and very interesting way to spend some time, meeting Anglo’s from English speaking countries and local nationals / Poles/Hungarians etc. It is an opportunity to learn about the past/ present/ possible future direction of the host country and obviously to make friends and learn about local customs, traditions,,culture ,habits, sports, hobbies, folklore ,foods, drinks, dances etc… It is an enjoyable, memorable, bonding, worthwhile experience and there are always interesting evening entertainment events which with (or without) a drink or two make it fun and ‘party like’ the atmosphere is friendly and professional but not ‘micro managed’ or rigid.. If you like meeting people from all walks of life and talking and talking ,sharing experiences ,you should try the Angloville. experience. Sounds a bit ‘gushing’ and ‘OTT’..if you don’t ,try you will never know !

For me, my first of eight sessions so far, was a life changing experience. I learnt the joy of teaching and learning from new friends both participants and fellow mentors. Friendships that have lasted for two years and are still as strong, if not stronger as we remain in contact. Absolutely love the experience. Two years after this post, I am still meeting wonderful people and making new friends. It is always a pleasure to reconnect with past partispants and mentors. So much kindness and humor. It is now difficult to visit a town in Poland where I don’t have a friend. Thank you all.

So firstly I would say this is a very full on experience. You will be socialising from 8:30-21:30 every day, with a 1hr break after lunch for free time. With the Ski program we also had 3 mornings/afternoons off for skiing and with the adult programs we didn’t do every conversation session or activity as there were more native speakers than participants. I did find the first few days a bit much, but once I’d got used to it I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 weeks with Angloville as a native speaker. I had Zara and Mairead as my coordinators, and they were both amazing. Super understanding if you needed an extra break or time off for meetings/interviews. They both really helped the group to gel well together and created a fun, open, accepting environment. I stayed at 3 locations, Willa Tatry (junior SKI program), Bachledówka (adult) and Kurpia Arte (adult). Bachledówka was definitely the nicest hotel, Willa Tatry was good for exploring the village/skiing and nearby walks and Kurpia Arte was my least favourite hotel but had amazing, varied walks nearby. Overall, everyone I met during my 3 Angloville programs was super lovely, interesting and easy to talk to. This applies to both the native speakers and the Polish participants. Yes it was intensive, but nonetheless quite relaxed. It was also great I could study for TEFL certificate with Angloville as I completed 3 weeks of programs. The main cons I would say are that Angloville doesn’t provide accommodation in, or transport between, the departure cities. The accomodation affiliate linked on the Angloville website is also significantly more expensive than accomodation I could find online myself. Also they say the hotels will provide toiletries, but most don’t, so come prepared. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend Angloville to people, with a caution of how long the days are 🙂

Local Guide Tips

✈️ When to arrive in the departure city in Poland

Angloville recommends that International Participants arrive 1 or 2 days before the programme begins. This allows you to have some rest before meeting the Angloville group at the meeting point on Sunday, which will be early in the morning. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the city and join our free walking tour on Saturday.

Please note that these additional expenses, such as airport shuttles, hotel rooms before, in-between, or after the programme, etc, are not covered by Angloville.

To arrive at the first start city, we recommend: www.skyscanner.com to look for some good flight deals. Budget airlines within Europe (Wizz air and Ryanair) do have some great deals for the upcoming months, with fares starting from 30 GBP!

The departure to the venue takes place on the first day of the programme, early in the morning, at a central easy-to-access meeting point. The Angloville bus takes the group of International and Local Participants from the starting city to the Angloville venue and back each time. Note the venue can be 1-4 hours away from the departure city.

📍 Meeting point return & intercity connections

We have to exercise utmost caution when predicting the return time of the Angloville bus to the departure city. Unforeseen circumstances, such as delays due to traffic, group issues, or other factors, can occur during the journey. Generally, we aim to have the bus back in the city centre by 18:00, but it’s important to be aware that the drop-off point for intercity or international connections may not be conveniently located near the Central train station, bus station, or airport.

Based on our past experiences, catching a train, bus, or carpool for an intercity connection on the same day has posed no issues. If you visit several cities in the host country, please check your itinerary is realistic. For moving between programmes and start cities, there are budget buses within Europe (www.flixbus.com), trip & itinerary scheduler (https://www.rome2rio.com/) and trains (https://www.thetrainline.com/https://www.intercity.pl/en/

However, we recommend practising prudence when scheduling a flight, as it may be more unpredictable (distance to the airport, check-in procedures, security checks, etc.): as a general recommendation, we advise our international participants to consider booking their flights no earlier than 23:00, if feasible, or to opt for a departure on the following day. This will allow them to have sufficient time and rest before their flight.

Please keep in mind that the given time is a forecast, and we cannot guarantee it. Our staff will do their best to arrive on time, or even earlier if possible.

🏨 Where to stay before or after the program

We recommend you to arrive a day before the programme starts, which means you will have to book the accommodation yourself.

The city-centre of the departure is always a good option. Angloville only provides the accommodation for the duration of the programme. If you decide to complete a three-week package with Angloville, booking the accommodation between the programmes will also be your responsibility.

We suggest Couchsurfing (for a free accommodation), HostelWorld and Booking.com (for a bed in a dorm or a cheap hotel deal), or AirBnB (for a private room or a flat to share).

🧳 What to pack

When packing a trip to Poland, you should first consider the time of year you are visiting. Poland has a temperate climate, so you should pack layers of clothing, including a warm jacket or coat for colder months. In summer, light clothing is best for staying cool.

Summer in Poland can be hotter than you would think! So pack lightweight & breathable clothing (T-shirts, shorts, skirts, dresses, light trousers, etc.), and don’t forget sunscreen and sunglasses. Remember to bring a hat or cap, comfortable walking shoes, a swimsuit, and a towel, as some of our venues have wonderful pools or lake beaches. Although it’s summer, occasional showers are possible, so it’s a good idea to pack a lightweight rain jacket or bring an umbrella.

Winter programmes

When packing for winter in Poland, prioritize warm clothing such as thermal layers, a heavy coat, and thick socks. Don’t forget essential accessories like hats, scarves, and gloves for protection against the cold. Additionally, bring waterproof outer layers, warm accessories like hand warmers, and don’t forget to pack moisturizers, sunglasses, and any necessary medications.

Ski programmes

If you decide to participate in a ski program, make sure to bring along essential specialized skiing gear and waterproof clothing, such as a ski suit, gloves, and a warm hat. Please note that Angloville does not provide ski clothing, so it’s essential to have these items ready for your trip.

Also, if you plan to explore Poland independently, consider downloading a travel app to help you get around and find things to do. Though many people in Poland speak English, it’s always nice to learn a few basic phrases in the local language to help with communication.

Don’t forget to pack all the essentials like your passport, travel insurance, and any other necessary travel documents. Also, it’s a good idea to have some cash and credit cards for shopping, snacks, and other extra activities. If you’re coming from a country with a different type of electrical outlet, you’ll need to bring an adapter plug to charge your devices.
