Local guide tips

Angloville advises International Participants to arrive 1 or 2 days before the programme starts. To arrive at the meeting city, we recommend: to look for some good flight deals. Budget airlines within Europe (Wizz air and Ryanair) do have some great deals for the upcoming months, with fares starting from £30!

You can book your return flight for the last day of the programme, but make sure you will be flying from the departure city, not earlier than 23:00. Generally, our participants prefer to book their return flight the day after the programme to enjoy a proper rest before flying.

We will include all the important information in an info-pack (2-3 weeks before the programme starts).

Angloville offers free 2-hour walking city tours for our International Participants in Roma and Bologna. These walking city tours are designed to help participants immerse themselves in the local culture and history of the city. The tours are led by local guides who are knowledgeable about the city’s history, architecture, and culture.

If you are interested in participating in one of these walking city tours, you can contact Angloville at Note our city tours take place on the Saturday before the programme starts. Also, it’s a great chance to meet your fellow participants.

We recommend you to arrive a day before the programme starts, which means you will have to book the accommodation yourself. The city-centre of the departure is always a good option. Angloville only provides the accommodation for the duration of the programme. If you decide to complete a three-week package with Angloville, booking the accommodation between the programmes will also be your responsibility.

We suggest Couchsurfing (for a free accommodation), HostelWorld and (for a bed in a dorm or a cheap hotel deal), or AirBnB (for a private room or a flat to share).

Italy can get very hot during the summer, so pack light, breathable clothing made from natural fibres like cotton or linen. It can also get very sunny, so bring a hat, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen to protect your skin. Our venues might have a pool, so don’t forget to pack swimwear. Even during the summer months, temperatures can drop at night, so bring a light jacket or shawl to keep warm.

Our venue might have a limited access to their Wifi network. Getting an Italian SIM is highly recommended. Having a local SIM means you can enjoy cheap rates for local calls and data usage. Tourist SIM cards are sold for 20 EUR (22.20 USD) to 25 EUR (27.75 USD) and can be bought at the airports.

NOTE: If you’re coming from a country with a different type of electrical outlet, you’ll need to bring an adapter plug to charge your devices.

Don’t forget to pack all the essentials like your passport, travel insurance, and any other necessary travel documents. Also, it’s a good idea to have some cash and credit cards for shopping, snacks, and other extra activities.
