You are about to join our cultural exchange programme in Poland where you will meet local language learners and international participants from the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, etc. Our programmes are immersive experiences where you will have casual conversations and engage in fun-packed activities such as games, workshops, roleplays, etc.

What is Angloville?

The Angloville concept revolves around immersive language and cultural exchange experiences. Participants, both English-speaking mentors and language learners, come together in a residential setting to engage in real-life conversations and fun activities.

The programme fosters an environment where language acquisition happens naturally through meaningful interactions rather than traditional classroom instruction.

Angloville aims to create a supportive and enriching space where individuals from diverse backgrounds can connect, learn, and grow together.

 

Who are the partcipants?

On each programme, there are around 40 local participants aged 12-18 and around 20 English-speaking participants. Local participants are primary and secondary school students. Many of them have never had a chance to speak English with native speakers, but want to gain confidence and fluency in the language. Some are even planning to study abroad at universities in English-speaking countries.

International participants are university students, recent graduates, and other enthusiastic people aged 18-35. They like to explore new places and cultures, meet new people, and make their travel meaningful. The various speaking sessions and other activities give international participants a chance to make friends with locals and fellow English-speakers alike.

Many Angloville participants keep in touch for years after the programme, and sometimes even visit each other later on!

What will your role consist of?

Your role as an English-speaking participant at Angloville will involve engaging in cultural exchange activities, fostering an immersive English-speaking environment, and helping English learners improve their language skills through interactive conversations and educational and fun activities such as games, roleplays, workshops and many more.

Additionally, you will facilitate 2:1 language learning sessions for local students, providing guidance, feedback, and encouragement.

Your presence will contribute to creating a supportive and enriching experience for all involved in the programme.

Sign the compliance agreement

The Angloville programme compliance agreement informs participants about important house rules and applicable local law as we maintain the highest standards of operational programme delivery and educational conduct and compliance.

By carefully reviewing and accepting this agreement, you are required to adhere to all the Angloville programme rules and regulations.

Once you approved Programme Compliance Agreement, you will receive a confirmation email to acknowledge your acceptance.

Our training will provide you with useful tips for your journey with Angloville, as well as a solid understanding of best practices during the conversation sessions, the importance of adhering to the Angloville Code of Conduct, and the house rules at our venues.

Prepare your trip to Poland

🛬 When to arrive. Angloville advises International Participants to arrive one day before the programme starts, as the departure to the venue occurs on the first day of the programme before 11:00 AM. Angloville does not cover additional expenses, such as airport shuttle, meals, and hotel rooms before or after the programme.

 

🛫 When to leave. Participants can book their return flight for the last day of the programme, but they must make sure they will be flying from the departure city, not earlier than 23:00. Generally, Participants prefer to book their return flight the day after the programme as they can have a proper rest before flying.

🛬 Where to land in Poland?

 

The capital of Poland boasts two main airports: Chopin Airport and Modlin Airport. Chopin Airport provides extensive international connectivity, while Modlin Airport offers budget-friendly options.

  • Chopin Airport (Lotnisko Chopina) is located only 10 kilometers southwest of the city center. To get to the city center, several options are available: private shuttle services, taxi (30-minute ride, 40-60 PLN), train (S2 line, 20-minute ride), and bus (175 or N32 lines, 40-minute ride, 5 PLN).
  • Modlin Airport (Lotnisko Modlin) is situated about 40 kilometers north of Warsaw and primarily serves as a hub for low-cost carriers. However, it is well-connected by transportation services, including buses and shuttles to downtown Warsaw. Check out Modlin Airport website here.

    🚍 Transports

     

    ✈️  Flying. To arrive at the first start city, we recommend: www.skyscanner.com to look for some good flight deals. Budget airlines within Europe (Wizz air and Ryanair) do have some great deals for the upcoming months, with fares starting from 30 GBP!

    🚌 Angloville bus. Angloville organizes free transportation for all participants from the departure city to the venue and back in Poland and Italy. The departure occurs on the first day of the programme, typically early in the morning (between 7:00-11:00 AM), at a centrally accessible meeting point. Detailed information about this complimentary service will be provided to participants in the infopacks, sent out 3-4 weeks before the programme begins.

    🚆 Intercities connections. If Participants plan to visit several cities in the host country, Angloville recommends checking the itinerary for feasibility before accepting the package of programmes. For traveling between programs and starting cities, there are budget bus options within Europe like Flixbus, trip and itinerary scheduling tools like Rome2rio. Additionally, we suggest using Trainline to check schedules and book train tickets in Europe and local train companies like Intercity in Poland and Trenitalia in Italy.

    🚊 Public transports. Polish cities offer very convenient and well-connected public transport, including buses, trams, and metros. We suggest using Jakdojade, the official Polish website for local city transport.

    Additionally, the “Transports” feature in Google Maps has been proven to be very reliable in major European cities and is highly recommended for navigating in Italy, for instance.

    🚖 Taxis. In Poland, there’s an extended range of taxi services and apps that offer affordable fares, such as Uber, Bolt, FreeNow, etc. We suggest downloading these apps to get around Polish cities. In Italy, we strongly recommend using the official taxi rank.

    📍 Meeting points

     

    Angloville organizes your transport from the departure city to the venue where the programme takes place and back. This service is free of charge. Most of our meeting points are situated in the city center, conveniently close to public transportation options such as buses, metros, trams, and taxis.

🧳 What to pack?

 

When packing for a trip to Europe, you should first consider the destination and the time of year you are visiting. Europe has a temperate climate, so you should pack layers of clothing, including a warm jacket or coat for colder months. In summer, light clothing is the best choice to stay cool.

Don’t forget to pack all the essentials like your passport, travel insurance, and any other necessary travel documents. Also, it’s a good idea to have some cash and credit cards for shopping, snacks, and other extra activities. If you’re coming from a country with a different type of electrical outlet, you’ll need to bring an adapter plug to charge your devices.

IMPORTANT

Angloville will provide all the essential information in an infopack, which will be sent out 3-4 weeks before the programme begins. This document will consolidate crucial details about the programme, including the meeting point, coordinator contact information, programme description, venue details, tips, and recommendations. We cannot send this information earlier, as external factors or unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we aim to provide the most current information to all participants.

 

During the programme

Free city tours

Angloville organizes free city tours of the departure city for all participants. These 2-hour walking tours take place the day before the program starts, generally on a Saturday, and require a minimum of 5 participants. Meeting points and times will be confirmed in our Brief Reminder Email.

 

Our tours will start at 17:00, so participants have time to arrive, check in at their hotel, and perhaps get some rest. City tours are available in Roma, Bologna, Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan, and Wroclaw.

Day one

🗓️ Each segment of your three-programme package with Angloville lasts for 7 days, from Sunday to Saturday.

 

  • Start: Sunday (between 6 AM and 12 PM)

A Typical Day

Angloville’s programme activities are primarily educational, designed to enhance language skills and foster cultural exchange.

 

However, they are also infused with elements of fun and enjoyment, including engaging games, workshops,  roleplays and many more.

Day one

🚍 Meeting point

At the start of the programme (Sunday), the Angloville bus will transport both International and Local Participants from the departure city to the Angloville venue. The specific meeting point, conveniently located and easily accessible, will be communicated to you a couple of weeks before the departure. This is where you will meet our Angloville Coordinators and join the International Participants group. It’s important to note that the venue can be located 1-4 hours away from the departure city, and the meeting time may be scheduled before 10:00 AM. Therefore, we highly recommend arriving in town the day before to ensure timely attendance.

 

🏨 Lunch & check-in

Upon arrival at the venue, you will enjoy your first lunch and complete the check-in process for your assigned shared room. Subsequently, there will be a preparatory talk for the International Participants conducted by the Coordinator’s staff. The lead coordinator, responsible for program and safety matters, will introduce you to Angloville and Hotel house rules, explain Angloville’s code of conduct, provide the weekly timetable, outline the main activities, and offer valuable tips to enhance your program experience.

 

🤩 First activities

Following a brief break, the program will commence! All participants will be invited to participate in ice-breaker games, creating an enjoyable and interactive environment for everyone to meet and get acquainted.

A Typical Day

🔰 Presentation sessions

In addition to the sessions, you will have the opportunity to mentor and assist two local participants with their personal projects (powerpoint presentation). Together, you will work on a topic of their choice, such as music, hobbies, or holidays, and they will present their project publicly at the end of the programme. These sessions offer a chance to develop teaching, management, and supervision skills, as well as showcase your creativity by designing an engaging presentation.

 

🔰 Meals

Meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, are considered educational activities as well. Participants, both local and international, will be seated together at tables, ensuring a balanced mix and creating valuable opportunities for getting to know one another. Meals are not only relaxed moments but also serve as ice-breakers and a chance to deepen connections.

 

🔰 Free time

Did you know that you’ll have 1.5 hours of free time after lunch every day? Many participants take this opportunity to rest and relax in their rooms, while others engage in outdoor exercises like jogging, playing football, or going for a walk. Some may also enjoy the venue’s facilities such as the pool, game rooms, or spa.

 

🔰 Entertainment hour

During the “Entertainment hour” after dinner, organized by our International Participants, you can showcase your talents and lead your favorite hobby activity. Whether it’s singing, dancing, movies, or poetry, you are welcome to share and introduce your preferred entertainment. The daily “Entertainment Hour” offers a range of activities, such as sing-alongs with a guitar, dance or yoga classes, quiz nights, talent shows, movie screenings, and more.

 

🔰 Social Time

After a fulfilling day of sessions and enjoyable activities, our international participants can relax during social time, while the junior participants will retire to their rooms following the curfew.
