Budget Travel Made Possible: Experience Malta for $10/Day

Summer is approaching. You’re feeling burnt out from schoolwork and exams, or maybe your job and daily routine are getting a bit dull. You’re itching for a new adventure and are ready to make this summer one to remember. But there’s one thing standing in your way – your bank account.

Sound familiar? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there! And the good news? You don’t need a ton of cash to make your summer travel dreams come true. Join Angloville’s sponsored Junior Programme in Malta this summer and experience the Mediterranean’s best-kept secret for less than $10 a day!

How It Works

During your time with Angloville, English speaking participants (you!) will engage in cultural exchange activities with local participants for a few hours a day. This will look like a mix of conversations, role-plays, games, and other fun activities conducted entirely in English. Apart from providing you with a unique opportunity to meet new friends and make an impact during your travels, this sponsored programme covers costs for accommodation, food, and excursions.

This means that for the duration of the program, participants are lodged in beautiful accommodations at the Malta University Residence in Lija’s city centre. For backpackers and young travellers accustomed to noisy hostels, this will be a welcome break! Food is completely covered as well. During the 10-day program, all meals will be provided – even on excursion days.

Angloville also ensures that you will make the most of your time in Malta. In addition to a variety of group activities, such as pick-up sports matches and dance classes, you will be invited on five excursions around the island. From the quaint fishing village of Popeye to the breathtaking architecture of Mdina, from the dramatic Dingli cliffs to the relaxing blue waters of Gozo, you will visit all of the best sights that Malta has to offer – for free.

What does this leave you with? You will only need to cover any additional expenses (like extra snacks, entertainment, or souvenirs), and even these are manageable for all budgets! For example, you can expect to pay around €2 (about £1.70 or $2.20) for a cappuccino, and a nicer meal at a restaurant to celebrate the end of your programme will only set you back about €14 (about £11.65 or $15.40). While your days will be filled with fun activities, extra entertainment is also inexpensive (and don’t forget about the countless free beaches!). Essentially, the cost of living in Malta is dramatically cheaper than in the U.K. or U.S., so you’ll be able to stretch each pound or dollar much further than you might expect on an island paradise.

The Bottom Line

If you want to visit Europe this summer, don’t let a strapped bank account hold you back. Angloville is a unique program that actually makes it possible for you to travel for less than $10 a day.
